James River Destiny

About the Author

Laurie Boche fell in love with Colonial Williamsburg when she was five years old on a family trip to the Virginia city.  Through high school at Alexander Ramsey in Roseville, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and travel from the back streets of Hong Kong to the pyramids of Egypt to the highlands of Scotland she retained her acquaintance with Williamsburg.  She visited the area often, always discovering something new to explore.

Finally, just a year ago, Laurie put her knowledge of and affection for Virginia's colonial city into a book, James River Destiny.  Not a travelogue, however, Laurie bent her efforts to creating an intriguing mystery and along the way inserts a plethora of information about this historical area along the James River.

A native Minnesotan, Laurie starts her story in this Midwest state, but quickly moves it to a plantation on the James River.  The plantation is fictional, but the location is purely historical.  A member of the Raleigh Tavern Society, one of the fundraising arms of Williamsburg, has provided Laurie a wide variety of opportunities to see this 18th century town as few others are privileged to do.

Laurie's book is now featured in bookstores in Williamsburg and Charles City, Virginia, London, England and several Twin Cities locations.  James River Destiny is Laurie's first novel, and she is already being urged to send her heroine on another adventure in historical preservation.  What comes next only Laurie knows!
